dearest lil,

we have spent a good portion of the last month talking about being four. everything hinges on this. when you point out toys that you want, i tell you to put them on your birthday list. when you act up, we discuss how four year olds probably don't act quite like that. and when you're amazing and angelic, one of use will muse about how you must be four already. so, four is magical in our minds. and honestly, i don't think we'll be disappointed when it arrives in all its imperfection. because you are magic. and every day, you're learning and growing and becoming a beautiful person. you are empathetic and smart. you are funny. you are kind. i'm so proud to be your mom.
